Yoga Master Sharat Arora

(Founder of Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centres - India)

Yoga Master Sharat Arora was born in 1953 and discovered yoga in 1978. He went through intensive, full-time training for seven years with Guruji BKS Iyengar at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune and assisted Iyengar on all levels of Asana classes. However, more significant in his development as a practitioner and teacher was his involvement in the daily therapy sessions, serving countless patients. His fusion of this experience, with his extensive study of medicine, greatly influenced his continually-evolving Yoga technique and sharpened his unique Yoga therapy skills.

Beata

(Yoga Teacher)

Shivani (Beata) is a certified Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre Teacher. From an early age she was deeply interested in spiritual teachings and meditation. From 18 year old she started a self-study of the human psychology and eastern philosophy of life, including Taoists teachings, Zen and Yoga, from whatever materials were available to her. Her school years she spent most of the time doing sports like athletics as well as martial arts. That deep interest in the human body as well as the human consciousness made her to have a first contact with yoga practice in 2005, after which she continued her yoga studies in traditional B.K.S. Iyengar style in her home town Warsaw in Poland. In 2009 she went to India for an extensive yoga study with Indian Master Teacher Sharat Arora at the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre to deepen her experience of the universal wisdom of spiritual practice and meditational silence. Since then she lives in India and the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre became her home. During all this time she continued intensive self-practice and participated in all the most important courses conducted by the Yoga Master Teacher Sharat Arora.

She also assisted him on numerous consequent intensive, teachers’ trainings, yoga therapy courses as well as many other regular yoga classes on all levels. Under his kind guidance each course was a very deep experience of awakening the body intelligence and creating the inner spaces. Since April 2011, accordingly to the Master Teacher Sharat Arora request, she started teaching yoga at the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre as well as at the Himalaya Shanti Ashram in India and in the Summer time conducting International Yoga Workshops to share how fully aware and harmoniously practiced Yoga influences not only our body, but also create a deeper, full of acceptance relationship with the Inner Self as well as with all the Surrounding World.

Antje

(Yoga Teacher)

In order to give my life a new direction and to heal my health problems, which caused me pain in the back and hip area, in 2020 I started to practise Yoga. A year later I met Sharat Arora at a workshop in Germany. I knew then that he was my teacher and I was convinced of the healing effects of his yoga method. I was hooked by the clarity, logic and holistic approach of his teachings as well as the focus on the most beneficial postures. I have since spent several months of each year at the HIYC, attending many courses as both a student and an assistant teacher, having completed the Teachers’ Training Course and the ongoing program to a Senior level 2 teacher of the method.

On this journey I succeeded in healing myself physically and leading a happier life through practising and teaching yoga. The science of yoga is a lifelong study I still divide my time learning from Sharat and assisting in his centre in India and teaching this method in Germany to motivate others to explore the art of yoga.

Aurelie

(Yoga Teacher)

I was a neuroscientist working on body perception when I got introduced to Sharat Arora's yoga method in 2016. I am familiar with the practice of hatha yoga since childhood thanks to my mum who is also a yoga teacher but I really started dedicating my life to yoga two years ago after discovering Sharat's method. I literally fell in love with the clarity, groundedness and peace of mind that this practice brought into my life.  It inspired me to change my entire lifestyle but also gave me new insights on how to orient my scientific research on body perception. I spent nine months in India in the past two years to be trained as a yoga teacher with sharat, including intensive self practice at the ashram, assisting Sharat in his teaching and in therapy with patients as well as teaching under sharat supervision. I am always learning from Sharat and now teaching his method in Germany (Tuebingen- daily classes- and in France -workshops/weekends-). I am also aiming at developing a research program in collaboration with the himalayan Iyengar yoga center oriented towards understanding the effects of the SharatAroraYoga method on the body/mind for healthy people and patients presenting specific body perception disorders.

Toon

(Yoga Teacher)

Being a vipassana meditator for more then 14 years, I discovered the Sharat Arora Yoga Method in 2014. I was struck by the clear, precise and non-violent way of exploring body and mind and experienced the benefits of it immediatly. Since then I’ve been coming back to the centre in India for longer periods of time to learn and grow in the method. In 2018 I started my own centre in Belgium, teaching purely the SharatAroraYogaMethod, hoping that more and more people will be able to learn and benefit from this wonderful technique of exploring and healing body and mind.
