15 - 26 January 2020 at the Arambol Yoga Centre, North Goa
Yoga and Ayurveda are sciences stemming from the same philosophical background, Yoga being for the spirit and Ayurveda for the body. When working with our bodies in Hatha Yogic practice, the insight that Ayurveda provides is extremely valuable. It informs and helps us understand how the elements work, so that we are able to personalise our practice, tuning it to our specific body constitution needs for better results.
During the Yoga and Ayurveda Special Intensive Course, an Ayurvedic doctor will provide you with the necessary knowledge to establish your body-mind constitution and diagnose relative problems accordingly. Once the role of the elements and their influence on the body and mind is understood, Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora will help you understand the influences that the Yoga Asanas have on the various body constitution types, and to develop a yoga practice and generally a lifestyle that both brings a more profound harmony within and increases the awareness of ourselves in relation to the outer world.
The specific Ayurveda themes explored in this Course are:
- What is Ayurveda? Misconceptions & basic principles
- Panchamahabhuta and Tridosha Theory
- Five elements of nature: Body as an epitome of nature
- Tridosha: Properties and functions
- Tridosha and their actions on various systems of the body
- Diagnostic & treatment methods of Ayurveda
- Healthy body and healthy mind
- Daily regimen and seasonal regimen
- Prakriti parikshan; Determination of body constitution
Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre Special Intensive Yoga Courses with Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora are designed for those students who have taken a strong interest in furthering their Yoga practice and who wish to undertake an extensive exploration of the Sharat Arora Yoga Method. The daily programme includes four hours of Asanas, two hours of Meditation and Relaxation, two hours of early morning Self-Practice as well as thirty minutes of Karma Yoga. In addition to these Yoga practices, the Course also features 3 sessions (6 hours) with an Ayurvedic Doctor and 3 videos of the teachings of Sharat Arora.
This Special Intensive Course should be considered a retreat, where a student can devote oneself entirely to self-exploration, change and transformation. The Course is rigorous and the daily programme very thorough - beginning in the early morning and continuing until sunset - leaving very little or no time for other activities. All aspects of Yoga are learned on an experiential level, and the students often feel dramatic changes.

The participants are not allowed to talk with each other verbally nor maintain any other communication like trying to catch someone else's eye sight or touch each other.
It has been observing over the years that the student benefit much more from the Intensive Courses when they remain quiet. The mental and energetic level imbalances can be noticed and corrected only when the students remain fully concentrated. And this process is greatly helped when the students do not disperse their energy outward by talking and making friends with other participants, but rather focus and go within. Communication with the outer world is taking the students' energy outward. To grow the Awareness of Oneself - the students must pull their energies within.
The Yoga Master Teacher and the Assistant Teachers will be giving the instructions during classes. The Students are allowed to ask the questions to the Teacher during classes regarding the practice.
If participants have any emergencies the Ashram manager can be talked to quietly in the Ashram office.
